Obituary of Newell E. Drinkall

Newell Evan Drinkall, 68, of Boise, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012. Newell was preceded in death by his wife Glenda, two of his sons David and Russell, his mother Edna and father Manford Thomas Drinkall. He is survived by his kids Robert, Debra, Alison, Steven, Victoria, Matthew, Laura, Kathryn and 16 grandchildren. Newell was born on April 15, 1944 in Nampa, Idaho. He was an only child and lost his dad when he was just 5 years old. He studied hard in school and dedicated the remainder of his time helping his mother. What an amazing job she did with this child. He graduated in 1963from Nampa High School and went on to Idaho State University. After a year in college Newell went on to excel in everything he did. He loved bowling and served as President for the Nampa Men’s Bowling Association and inducted into the Hall of Fame in ’79. He managed Gem Bowling Lanes from ’65-’66. From 1966 to 1976 he worked as a salesman and managed Q’s Trophy Cabin in Boise. In that time he married his true love Glenda Benjamin December 28, 1968. They were blessed with 10 children. From there they bought the Pix Theatre in Nampa, Idaho June 1972. Opened Creative Awards in ’76 and sold the theatre in ’77. Newell had many accomplishments throughout his life. He ended his career as Vice President for Jackson’s Food Stores. He suffered a stroke in 1997 and spent the remainder of his years with Life Cares of Treasure Valley who the family thanks dearly for their services. Newell became well known among the staff and residents. He endured quite a bit in those days but stayed strong in his faith with the LDS church. Newell was converted to the church after marrying Glenda and has loved it ever since and was very active including serving as First Counselor. Words can’t describe how tough Newell was but if I had to choose one it would be Superman. Until we meet again Dad…We love you. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013, 11:00 AM, at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell with viewing starting at 9:00 AM at the funeral home.
