Manuela was born in San Benito, Texas, to Evencio and Apolonia Aja on July 29, 1921.  She married Ernesto Ozuna, Sr. on March 10, 1940 in Alamo, Texas. They lived in Edcouch, Texas, and migrated from Texas to Oklahoma to Idaho as Ernesto worked as a farm laborer and crew leader for various Caldwell farmers from 1958-1964. They settled in Caldwell in 1964. Manuela’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and 156 grandchildren, many of whom she babysat at “Grandma O.’s Daycare.” She enjoyed embroidery, sewing, cooking (dozens of tortillas every morning for her numerous daily visitors), and gardening her 87 long-stem rose bushes.

Manuela is preceded in death by her husband Ernesto Sr., infant son Ernesto Jr., son Tomas, daughter Eva Gonzalez (Jesus+), son Toné (Beatrez), granddaughter Cindy Gonzalez, sisters Josefina Gonzalez, Cuca Castillo, brothers Evencio Aja, Jr., Tomas Aja, and Moyces Aja, three infant great-grandchildren and one infant great-great-grandchild.

Manuela is survived by eleven children: Daniel (Brigida), Tina Jimenez (Victor), Ernesto II (Rosa), Emma Valdez (Primitivo+), Joe, Sr. (Norma), Estella Zamora (Romero), Richard, Danny (Carol), Melinda Longoria (Ismael) all of Caldwell, Rosie Almaraz (Willie) of Homedale, and Mary Crowe (Mitch) of Kennewick, Washington; sisters Luisa Limas of Edcouch, Texas, and Mary Chavez of Fresno, California; 37 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, and 33 great-great-grandchildren.

The family of Manuela wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Canyon West of Cascadia, Heart ‘n Home Hospice & Palliative Care and the medical personnel of West Valley Medical Center, Caldwell and St. Alphonsus Medical Center, Nampa.
