Obituary of Lillian leone brant
Lillian Brant, 92, passed away September 17, 2018. Lillian was born to Tom and Lena Johnson in New Underwood, South Dakota on July 16, 1926. She was the oldest of seven children. While living in New Underwood she spent her summers with her grandparents on their farm. Her grandfather had a horse that was “hers” during those summer months. Her grandparents were from Germany and her grandmother taught her to say her prayers in German. The time she spent with her grandparents was a time she always loved and fondly talked about up to her last days.
The family moved to Homedale, Idaho when Lillian was in the eighth grade. She was sad to leave New Underwood but soon fit right in when she started High School in Homedale. She became a majorette and would march at the football games. She caught the eye of the football quarterback and he became the love of her life. It was the time of WWII. Her love, Calvin Brant, was drafted into the army at age 18. Cal and Lillian got married 2 days before he left for the army. This love story continued for 70 years.
Lillian was involved in many community activities through the years, as a volunteer. She also was Office Manager, for 15 years in a printing firm.
Lillian loved to golf, tend to her flower garden, play cards, cross country ski and capture family history with her primary hobby, photography. She also enjoyed spending time, with family and friends at the family cabin. Making memories with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was the greatest accomplishment of her life.
Lillian will be greatly missed by her daughter Vickie Collins (Roger), her son Dennis Brant and her six grandchildren Laurie Collins, Kristi Collins, Kelli Bryant (Joe), Brooke Collins (Chris), Ryan Brant (Kami), and Lesley Brant (Dustin). She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Calvin Brant in 2014.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 on Saturday, September 29 at Marsing- Homedale Cemetery. A celebration of Lillian’s life will follow at The Bowling Alley in Homedale at 2:00.
