Obituary of Lewis Morgan Metcalf

  Lewis was born July 6, 1934 to Banker & Louise Metcalf in Glyndon, Minnesota at home.  He grew up with four brothers and one sister in rural Glyndon.

  Lewis graduated from Glyndon High School in 1953; following high school, he was drafted in the army.  He specialized in microwave towers for the army.  After the army, he joined the air force in 1959 and became a full-time ground communications technician for the North Dakota Air National Guard – he had 32 years of military service.  Lewis served seven years as captain in the ND wing, civil patrol.  Captain Metcalf had contributed hundreds of hours of volunteer time building three mobile communication vans for disasters around North Dakota. 

  Lewis was a volunteer fireman for many years for the Glyndon, MN Fire Department.  He loved fishing, camping, & hunting with his family.

  Lewis married Barbara Bond in 1961 in Glyndon Congregational Church.  They lived in Glyndon and moved to Fargo in 1968 with his wife and three children, Kevin, Shelley, and Douglas.  Lewis and Barbara moved to Caldwell, Idaho in 1989.  Lewis is survived by his wife Barbara of 58 years, one daughter Shelley (David) Marvin of Bloomington, IL; two sons Kevin (Cindy) Metcalf of Bullhead City, AZ and Douglas (Julie) Metcalf Navarre, FL; and five grandchildren:  Greg & Tina Metcalf, Teagan & Kellen Marvin, and Corbin Metcalf.

  Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Jim & Roger Metcalf and sister Margaret Metcalf. 
  Lewis will be missed by his loving family.
