Obituary of Gonzalo E. Rico

Gonzalo Escobedo Rico was born January 10, 1942 in Bexar County, Texas. He made his journey to Heaven on April 8, 2021.

Funeral services are being held Friday April 16, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Valley Church.  Viewing hours will be held Thursday Evening April 15th from 5-8 p.m. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.

Legacy: The Greatest Legacy one can pass on to his children and to his grandchildren is not money or material things... but the legacy of strong character and something that forever lives on through his bloodline.

Gonzalos Rico’s greatest Legacy was Music. His love for music was so passionate and well known that it has passed on to live though his many sons and daughters.  His song notes can be heard by his six sons: Ray, Carlos, Ricardo, Ramon, Gonzalo Jr. and Roy. As well as sweet melodies by his seven daughters: Janie, Estella, Elizabeth, Rosalinda, Maryann, Alicia, and Esmeralda. Proud Grandfather to 34 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. This great family was such an accomplishment and an extension of Gonzalo’s mark in this world. His Legacy & his music will live on forever.

In Heaven he will be welcomed by his father Atanacio Rico and mother Margarita Escobedo. We all feel love and joy in our hearts when we imagine him reminiscing and dancing with his late wife, our beloved Juanita. He will once again smile at his young son Gonzalito. He was a brother to his sisters Sixta & Dominga (Minga) and brothers Juan, Francisco (Poncho) & Ramundo.

Gonzalo knew his time was drawing near but he did not show any fear. He was a man who very rarely ever showed fear. He was ready for his journey into his next chapter. Being surrounded by loved ones brought much joy to him. In his last hours with his family, he made it very well known that he wanted music and celebration. A man can feel complete knowing he lived his life to the fullest. Gonzalo truly lived a full life... his life, music, and legacy will be celebrated.
