Jared Waltman

Obituary of Jared Flake Waltman

To the world, he was known as Jared Flake Waltman but to us, his children, he was simply known as our wonderful dad. Dad was born to Glen Jay and Carol Flake Waltman on October 12th,1966 in Boise, Idaho. He was the third oldest of 12 children and loved by all of his siblings very much. The Waltman family moved to Star, Idaho in 1977. They spent hours together on their family farm riding ponies and horses, playing football and catch, hauling hay, hosting parties, and making up crazy games.

Jared graduated from Meridian High School in 1985, and soon after, he left to serve a two-year mission in Guatemala from 1986-1988. A few months after he returned, he met his love, Lisa Sharon Tyner. They married in the Boise, Idaho Temple on April 6th, 1989. They were married for a wonderful 32-1/2 years. From 1990 to 2007, dad and mom welcomed seven children into the world. Dad loved spending quality time with us whenever he could.

Dad worked at Micron Technology for several years. In 1996, he and mom decided to move the family to Middleton so that they could raise us in a small-town atmosphere. He spent his adult years playing softball with his brothers, hunting with family, coaching his children’s soccer teams, serving in the Boy Scouts of America, watching BSU football with family, and serving in church callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When he spoke in church, he always shared his deep love of Jesus Christ as his Savior and Redeemer.

Dad loved the city of Middleton, and ran for city council in November, 2003. He was elected and served for two terms, until 2012.  His name resides on a bench in Middleton that marks the City’s 100th anniversary, as well as a reminder of his service. Dad became a truck driver and began working out of town in 2011, sacrificing a lot of time away from his wife and children to provide for us. This was very hard on him, and he was always anxious for the times he could travel back home to be with us.

In May of 2017, at the age of 50, Dad was diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s. This disease was so cruel and unforgiving. Our lives were thrown into chaos with so many uncertainties, but some things remained the same: our love for our dad and each other, and his love for us. His main concern throughout the whole process, when he was thinking clearly, was for his family. He always asked each one of us to take care of Mom when he was gone.

On October 26th, 2021, at the age of 55, dad took his last breath at 12:46 a.m., surrounded by his wife and all of his children, who each spent hours in loving service caring for him in their family home during his final days.

Jared Waltman’s memory and legacy lives on through his loved ones left behind: his wife, Lisa; his children, Tyner, Ross (Weston), Jessica (Caelyn & Ryker), Scott, Natalie, Nathan, and Dylan; his grandchildren, Weston, Caelyn, and Ryker; his mother Carol, and his 11 siblings and their families. Jared is preceded in death by his father, Glen and his niece, Mariah.

Jared will be sorely missed by all who know and love him.
