Caryl Harris

Obituary of Caryl LeRoy Harris

Caryl LeRoy Harris, age 89, died peacefully on November 18, 2021 at his home in Middleton, Idaho.

Caryl was born August 28, 1932 in Boise, Idaho to Ershel and Alice Harris.  He was the youngest of 5 Sons.  They moved to the family farm in Eagle, Idaho, when Caryl was 2 months old.

In 1952, he graduated from Meridian High School where he played the trumpet and lettered in band.

He met the love of his life “Ann” at 17 years old at the Letha Ward dance and knew immediately that they were meant to be. Caryl went to great lengths to date his bride to be, and they were married on February 2, 1951.  They had an uncommonly precious bond that lasted a lifetime and celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary this year.  They were always by each other’s side and you rarely saw one without the other, setting an excellent example for their family of true, selfless love.

Caryl and Ann’s love of music was expressed with and through his children with a family band.
Caryl learned to work hard on the family farm but also to love basketball and baseball.  He played and served as a coach to his children and grandchildren, sharing his love of the games. Caryl loved fishing, hunting and spent many hours boating with family and loved ones on the water.

Caryl was always willing to help whenever the need arose.  Whether it was borrowing a car, a tool, or a trailer, teaching the scouts to build a tool box, or to ask “do you need some money?”  Caryl was ready to serve when there was a need and he especially loved serving in the Boise Idaho Temple.

His legacy carries on through his wife, Anna Mabel Rose Harris and their 7 children; LeAnn Mart (Chase), Eileen Willis (Dean), Jeannie Law (Jerry), Terry Harris (Nancy), Kathrine Crossley (Mike), Troy Harris (Wendy) and Gordon Harris (Debbie) in addition to 36 grandchildren and 94 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Margret and Ardys Harris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ershel Lawrence and (Alice) Emma Albertina Owens Harris, brothers, Ershel Farrel (Eunice), Lawrence Edwin (Marian), Joseph Eldon, and Alfred Ray Harris.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Middleton East Idaho Stake Center, at 1332 Cornell Street.  Family viewing will begin at 9 am., and open to friends and associates at 10:00.  Funeral service will follow at 11:00. Interment will be at the Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.  Funeral services provided by Flahiff Funeral Chapels, Caldwell.

To our beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend:  To such a servant the Lord may say “Well done thou good and faithful servant.  Thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things.  Enter thou into the joy of the Lord.’”  (Matthew 25:21)
