Obituary of Marjorie Arlene Lemrick

Marjorie Arlene Pearson Lemrick, 90, passed away peacefully February 16, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born August 8, 1932 to James and Mildred (Whitney) Pearson and was later joined by a brother Dwayne Pearson on March 10, 1935.  Tragically, her mother would pass away 12 days later from childbirth complications.  Marjorie and Dwayne would be raised by their father, who never remarried, and paternal grandmother on the family farm in Nampa Idaho.  When she was not working on the farm, she loved riding her beloved horse Tony, roller skating with friends at the Nampa Roller Drome, and discovering her creative gift in her artwork.  Marjorie had a passion for art at an early age.  She began sketched drawings of animals in pencil and thereafter took an interest in putting brush to canvas to create oil paintings.

On April 15, 1952 Marjorie married Fred Martin Lemrick.  They soon took to the road traveling state to state, as Fred worked in sales and repair, to pave the way in starting their own dairy farm.  During this time, they purchased the farm, but continued to travel in order to buy livestock and equipment.  In 1960 they realized their dream and were finally able to settle down on the farm with the first three of their five children.  As the dairy operation grew, so did the family with two more children.  To make ends meet, Marjorie raised and sold rabbits to the local hospital to be used for patient pregnancy testing.  She also grew a large garden and canned everything that she harvested.  On the farm, Fred milked the cows and tended to the crops in the fields, while Marjorie raised the young calves and cared for the cows during calving.

Marjorie enjoyed her family and family life.  She shuttled kids to 4-H meetings and county fairs and mentored her children in the responsibilities and care of the animals.  Years later when she discovered neighboring farm kids had an interest in raising a 4-H project, she not only embraced the additional mentorship responsibilities, but also developed a new 4-H club of which she became the leader of.  Family life adventures also included an annual camping trip taken during the Independence Day holiday.  She truly looked forward to the peace and tranquility of the mountains, reconnection with family and friends, and navigating any forest trail on horseback.

As her children became more independent, Marjorie’s passion for art was reignited and she found more time to pursue her love of acrylic oil painting.  She was delighted with the construction of an art studio to the family home where she would have her own space to create.  She would later become a co-founder of the Canyon County Fine Art Club where members would meet once a week to paint and host group workshops to learn advanced skills.  Acrylic paint was her most widely used artist medium, but occasionally she did some watercolor paintings as well.  Marjorie painted and sold many scenic, portrait and animal pictures over the years.

Upon selling the dairy farm in 1996, the couple bought five acres near Middleton and built the home they would reside for the next 16 years.  After years of hard work, they enjoyed their retirement together and their extensive travel adventures.  They spent many happy occasions fishing, 4-wheeling and enjoying the motor home travels.  Eventually they downsized to a smaller home in Middleton where Marjorie enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens.  Even after Fred’s passing in June of 2015, Marjorie was fiercely independent and remained in her home until her passing.  She very much enjoyed her time with friends, family, gardening and oil painting.

Marjorie is survived by her sons Mike (Terri) Lemrick and Roger (Verna Pool-Lemrick) Lemrick, daughters Cheryl Gardiner, Lori Leppert, Lisa (Jim Ruby) Boggs, 12 grandchildren and their 8 spouses, 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, son-in-law Mike Gardiner, 2 granddaughters, and a great granddaughter.

Marjorie’s desire was to remain as independent as possible and living in her own home throughout her final days.  She was able to accomplish this with her family’s love, caretaking, and support, particularly her granddaughter Mandi who attended to her daily needs, as well as Marta and the Hospice staff and Clergy tending to her final needs.
