Maurice Quinn

Obituary of Maurice Harold Quinn

Wednesday, August 23, 2023, Maurice Harold Quinn, 96, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home with his wife and daughter at his side. He lived a big, full, incredible life, and was a model of loving without condition, achieving success without boast, and providing succinct and quiet wisdom when it was needed most. He will be remembered affectionately by his family, who knows he is now at peace in his truest and purest form.

Mauri "Mo" and his wife, Patt, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary only a month before his passing. The two resided in Boise for much of their marriage, spending a number of summers at their home in Tucson, Arizona, and traveling avidly. Together, they raised his five children and her three children and were so proud of the people and families they became. He had a quiet, kind heart and doted on Patt through his last days.

While growing up, Mauri valued family relationships.  He was born May 16, 1927, in Boise, Idaho, to Harold and Bernardine Schilling Quinn. He was the middle child of the family following his sister Eileen and preceding his brother Jim. He attended St. Joseph's school and St.Teresa's Academy in Boise, and went on to attend Portland University and the University of Idaho where he was the Pledge Class President of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.  Mauri and Jim ran Quinn-Robbins Construction, after their father, the company's founder, passed in 1959. They continued as business partners of the company and its joint company, Consolidated Concrete, until retirement and were known for remaining the greatest of friends through it all. Much of the land owned by the family's company was donated by the brothers to the City of Boise. One of the properties, "Quinn's Pond" at Bernardine Quinn Park, fondly named for their mother, eventually became a frequented location for families in the Boise community.

Mauri loved to golf, travel, enjoy his fine wine, watch the world go by, and spend time with his friends and family. He was not a man of many words but always left those he met with a feeling of warmth and welcome. He is survived by his wife, Patt, their children, Michelle Wheeler, Susan Quinn, Marta Hartzog, Karen Bolwar, Mike Rust, Shawna Rust, Angela Newberry, and Hal Quinn, the children's spouses, twenty-three grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his beloved pets Huckie, Annie, and Walter the cat. We all feel incredibly grateful to have been loved by him.

Per his request, no services will be held. If you would like to honor his life, donations may be made to West Valley Humane Society. https://westvalleyhumanesociety.org/wvhs-donate/
