Obituary of Myrna Mae McDonald

In Loving Memory of Myrna M. McDonald

It’s with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Myrna McDonald on August 27th, 2023. She was 82 years old and a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend.

Born Myrna Mae Redelfs on January 4th, 1941, she remained the only child of George O. and Evelyn M. Redelfs. Myrna, the only child, went on to raise an expansive family of her own.

She, with her first husband Dale O Coryell, became mother to four biological children. These are; Kaloa M Devine, Richard M Coryell (who preceded her in death), Kelly M Danitschek (who preceded her in death), and Penny M Atherton. She adopted others along the way and includes Leslie Williams (Daughter of her second husband) and later Scott Char as part of her family.

As the base of this large family, Myrna took immense joy in her 19 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren – with the 39th soon to make her entrance. She also had the excitement of experiencing the arrival of her first 3 great-great-grandchildren.

In 1976, Myrna relocated to the Caldwell area from western Washington, ultimately making her home in Middleton. After years of dedicated service at Lakey’s Cafe on US-20 in Caldwell, she took over as the owner and proprietor in the early 1990’s. She relished this role until she took her well deserved retirement.

A constant in her later years was her life partner, David Watson, who also called Middleton home. They met in May of 1982 and became constant companions. Sadly, David passed away earlier this year in April. Together, they were annual attendees and volunteers at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag, MN-a tradition they both deeply cherished.

Funeral Services will be at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd, Caldwell, ID. On Saturday, September 16th 2023, at 10 am. Interment will be at the Middleton Cemetery next to David.

In lieu of floral tributes, Myrna’s family requests donations be made to your local Humane Society in her name, honoring her lifelong love for her canine companions.
