Obituary of Patricia Jean Holmberg

Patricia Jean Holmberg (Fread), 81, of Dixie, Idaho, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2023. She was born on April 18, 1942, in Oakland California. Patricia was a force of nature, known for her unwavering love and dedication to her family. She was a remarkable woman who fearlessly fought for justice whenever she felt it was needed.

 

Patricia is survived by her loving daughters, Deborah Day, Deanna Bye, Terressa Baldridge, and Nancy Bodily and her Son In Laws John, Tim, Geoff and Rick.  She also leaves behind her sister Carol, and grandchildren Nicki, Adam, Bobby, Annie, Dustin, Patricia, Dylan, and Cassidy. Additionally, she will be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren Phoenix, Jordan, Sofia, Allison, Jeffrey, Charlotte, Jared, Blake, Olivia, Kali, Damien, Kyndall, Quintan, Arden and Theo.

 

She was preceded in death by her son Donald Stewart Jr., Grandson James (J.J.), her parents Cliff and Clara Fread, her sisters Chrissy, Marge and Besse, and her brothers Wes and Bob.

 

Patricia's educational journey began as part of the first graduating class at Borah High School in Boise Id. She then attended the University of Utah, focusing on pre-law studies.

 

Throughout her career, Patricia wore many hats. She was a small business owner, retired from the US Postal Service, and served as the Chairwoman of the Idaho County Commissioner's Office. Her dedication to her community was evident through her role as the President of the Idaho Mining Association. Patricia fought tirelessly for the rights of small miners and played a crucial role in passing key legislation to preserve and defend natural resource opportunities for the people of Idaho.

 

Outside of her professional life, Patricia had a passion for crafting and enjoyed traveling to craft shows and art festivals. She was also an accomplished painter and a skilled pool player. However, her true love was mining, and she spent several decades pursuing her dream in a remote cabin in Dixie, Idaho.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held in August 2024 during the Dixie Days annual memorial service in Dixie, Idaho, where Patricia will be remembered for her indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to her family and community.
