Obituary of Clifford Wayne Shinn
Cliff Shinn passed peacefully on September 4, 2023. Cliff was born on November 29, 1938, in Wayne County, Iowa to Everett and Floy Shinn. He was a loving husband, father, granddad, and a good friend to many.
At a young age his family moved to Notus, Idaho, where he graduated high school in 1957. After serving in the Army and pursuing the rodeo life, he married the love of his life, Mardelle Stephens on February 14, 1965. He graduated from Boise Junior College in 1967 and began a long, successful career with Idaho Power Co. He was active in his church and served as a deacon. Cliff and Mardelle lived in Boise until 1996 when they moved to their ranch in Cambridge, Idaho, where he raised quarter horses and cattle. He impacted the lives of many young people as the director of Rodeo Bible Camp. In 2012, they moved to Nampa and then to Lenity Senior Living in Caldwell in 2018.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, his son Steve, and his loving wife of 56 years.
He is survived by sons Jeff (Zareena) and Aaron (Georgann); grandchildren Randie, Buck, Zane, and Elise; brothers Reed, Duane, and Gary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cliff will be remembered for his wit, his guitar, his poetry, and his love of Boise State football, the outdoors, horses, and all things cowboy.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1829 Iowa Ave, Nampa.
