Obituary of Jesus M. Pardo
Jesus Maldonado Pardo, 87, passed away on October 7, 2023, with his loved ones at his bedside. He was born on February 6, 1936, to Francisco and Genoveva Pardo.
He grew up in Martindale, TX, where he spent most of his younger years working the farmlands of Texas and enjoying the company of his friends. He would migrate to Idaho yearly with his family and in 1962 he met and courted his beloved wife, Alvina. They married on September 21, 1963, and started their family one year later. They raised 2 sons and 3 daughters in the Caldwell area and were married for 60 years.
Jesus tirelessly and faithfully supported his family. He worked as a laborer and then as a machine operator for Carnation Potatoes where he worked for 27 years before retiring. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, not to mention a brother. He always had time for his children allowing for some playful rough housing after coming home from a hard day at work. He was the kind of guy that would go into a store and befriend a stranger in no time. To those that knew him, he had many a story to tell.
As a man of true integrity, in his teens, when asked by his Tia Petra not to shave his mustache because he looked like her favorite Mexican-American film actor, Pedro Armendariz, he completed his promise to his dying day, trimming it, but never having shaved his mustache. To his mother who was diagnosed with cancer, he made a promise to the Virgen de San Juan that he would allow his beard to grow and not shave it until his mother was free of cancer which thankfully was fulfilled.
His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will forever be engrained in all who knew him.
Jesus is survived by his wife Alvina, his daughters, Veronica Perez (Nicanor), Norma Munoz (Ramiro), Rosa Pardo, and his son Jesus Pardo II; By his siblings Benita Salinas (Cleofas), Celestino Pardo (Maria), Alfredo Pardo (Irene), Gilbert Pardo, David Pardo, Juan Pardo, and by 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son Miguel Pardo, father Francisco Pardo, mother Genoveva Pardo, sister Dominga Cuellar, brothers Francisco Pardo, Arturo Pardo, and Rojelio Pardo.
